The first Armenian golf tournament ArAm 2018 took place at the Pestovo Golf Club

The tournament was timed to the Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia.

The tournament was organized by the Union of Armenians of Russia and the Pestovo Golf Club with the support of the Armenian Embassy in Russia. Ashot Maryan, Vladimir Kartashyan and Arthur Minosyants have become the patrons of the tournament.
Armen Movsesyan and Kim Khachaturian were the idea initiators of the tournament, their enthusiasm was gladly supported by the President of the Union of Armenians of Russia Ara Abramyan. Armen Movsesyan is a multiple champion of the Pestovo club and three times champion of Russia in golf. Teams consisting of four players took part in the tournament: the captain (ethnic Armenian) and three amateur players.
An individual score was also played - the best strockplay gross among men and women. There were additional nominations as well – the closest to pin and the longest drive for men and women.

The names of the teams playing in the Armenian tournament spoke for themselves: “Peaches” (Movsesyan Angela, Sokolov Gennady, Glavatsky Alexander, Filatov Alexey) won the 1-st place with 122 points.

“The Eagles of Ararat” team (Movsesyan Armen, Khasanova Larisa, Romanova Elena, Barsukova Inna) finished in the 2-nd scoring 121 points.

They were followed in the 3-rd by “Sultana” team (Movsesyan Mikhail, Mikheev Dmitry, Kolobashkina Elena, Dementiev Andrey) with 117 points.

Prizes were awarded not only for points scored in the field. As “The Youngest Participant” Marjan Yegor was praised. The title “The Most Respected Participant” went to Yuri Ayvazyan, former head of the Department of Sports of the Moscow Government while diplomat Yang Gong Hung, representative of the South Korean Embassy in the Russian Federation, was awarded as “The Best Guest”.

Compatriots from Great Britain and Italy came to Moscow to participate in the ArAm 2018 tournament. One of them, Vardges Knadjian, a well-known entrepreneur and public activist of the diaspora, was awarded with the Golden Cross - the highest order of the Union of Armenians of Russia - for his contribution to its development. This award was presented to the president of the Pestovo club Andree Reus as well.

For golfers and guests of the event, the Union of Armenians of Russia has prepared diverse cultural programme, too, making it possible to become familiar with the traditions and rich cultural heritage of Armenian people: “Jazz with an Armenian accent” by Artem Lalayan, Ayordik choreographic ensemble and, of course, the charming sounds of the Armenian duduk that from early morning was creating amiable atmosphere in the golf club.
Participants and guests of the tournament with pleasure tried on wonderful national costumes provided by the Manon Atelier. The award ceremony has crowned the outstanding day.

All present warmly welcomed the Armenian Ambassador to the Russian Federation Vardan Toganyan. The speech by Ara Abramyan who proposed to make the tournament an annual one was followed by a storm of applause and joyful emotions.
